      • Hi, Ayana! These are really good reasons to learn a foreign language. And what countries do you have in mind when you talk about traveling? Which countries would you like to visit first?

        • I study English to help my parents and friends translate something. I mainly use my English language skills to read fan fiction, manga and watch English-language video bloggers. I want to enroll as a translator and study other languages, but first I need English. I will be a literary translator, because nowadays the computer itself can translate texts verbatim, but for literature it is necessary to translate not verbatim, but so that the meaning is clear. Verbarim translations don't look beautiful. Also I need this language for traveling around countries and communicating with foreigners. My plans for the future are related to English.

          • Hi, Saryuna! I really like your motivation! And your Eng is very nice as usual.
What kind of translation do you usually do for your friends and family?

Btw, try to clarify next time that you want to “enroll as a translation student”, otherwise it sounds like you want to apply for a job, not uni 😉

And also, you can use more commonly used synonyms for “verbatim” such as “word for word” and “literal” to avoid repetition.

            • I am learning English just to live in Canada. If I can, then I will be happy. I have plans to travel abroad in a motor home. It will also be fun to watch films in English, and understand everything, because in the original the idea may differ from the translation. Once I watched Batman in English, that is, in the original it was cooler than in Russian. In general, I think that English in pronunciation sounds very cool. Even the voice changes. I also know that they pay extra for knowledge of the English language, somewhere I heard this.

              • Hi, Tanya! What a beautiful dream - to travel in a motorhome! And I totally agree about watching movies in the original. This way you can actually hear how the actors play their roles, as opposed to listening to Russian dub actors.

But why Canada, though? What is so appealing in this country to you? And you’re talking about liking English pronunciation, but which English accent do you prefer?

                • Canada is a calm country and for some reason it just pulls there ... I like all the accents, especially the one that we listen to in English lessons.
Oh, I also remembered the moment when my brother and dad went to Arshan in winter, there were two English women. Haha, how did I figure that out? They spoke English, and the appearance was far from local and not even Russian. They spoke very clearly, I could even make out, not like in English lessons (audio).
                  Well, everyone has different accents.
